On the other hand, the cost of the Duolingo Plus subscription can be a deterrent for those who really want to invest in it. Today, I’m sharing with you the different ways of paying less for Duolingo and my tip for getting Duolingo for as little as €3/month!
Advantages and rates of the Duolingo subscription
Duolingo offers a freemium model, so a free version is available to discover the solution and its basic functions. This is already a good way of seeing whether the learning modules suit you before upgrading.
Duolingo is one of the best language learning apps around! It is rated by over 31 million users at 4.7/5 on the Google Play Store and is ranked No. 1 in Education on the App Store.

What are the basic rates for a Duolingo subscription?
The Duolingo Super subscription costs €13.99 for one month with no commitment. With a 12-month commitment, the price is a little more attractive at €94.99, i.e. around €8 per month.

You can test the Super version of Duolingo free of charge for 14 days to discover the advantages. There’s no obligation, and at the end of the trial the subscription is automatically renewed unless you decide to cancel it before the expiry date.
How to pay less for Duolingo: solutions
There are several possible solutions, but I’d prefer to spoiler straight away. You can get Duolingo for 6 months for around €22, i.e. a subscription for less than €4/month!
Get Duolingo cheaper using a VPN
This solution is often used to take advantage of reduced rates on subscriptions by virtually changing your location to access cheaper rates offered in other countries.
👉 However, I don’t think it’s the best because it involves several constraints, such as access to certain geo-restricted content that is different from a French account, or having to pay for a VPN, which adds costs and complexity to the handling.
Share a Duolingo Plus subscription with other users
Another way of reducing the cost of your subscription is to share it. Rather than paying the full price on your own, you can opt for a family account that you can share with 2 to 6 people!
The price of the Duolingo Family subscription is of course higher, but as you divide it between the people who share the account, the price becomes immediately more attractive.
The disadvantage of this method is that you no longer have the autonomy to manage your subscription freely and you have to find and organise people close to you to manage the payments. If someone withdraws, it’s just as painful and requires a bit of management.
Take advantage of special offers and cashback
Duolingo sometimes offers special promotions for back-to-school or other events. You can keep up to date by subscribing to their newsletter and following them on their social networks.
Or, if you don’t want to wait and get a nice discount, you can use a cashback solution.
