It is possible to get a cheap YouTube Premium subscription – up to three times cheaper than the official price. It’s all 100% legal, requires no VPN, and you get to keep your own YouTube account.

YouTube Premium removes adverts from all videos, allows you to continue listening in the background or with the screen off, and includes unlimited access to YouTube Music. It’s a real bonus if you’re a regular user of the platform, and an expense worth cutting back on if you’re a student or on a tight budget.

YouTube Premium subscription prices (2026)

In France, the price of a standard YouTube Premium subscription is €12.99 per month. The price of the family subscription has recently increased from €24.99 to €29.99.

The types of subscription plans available for YouTube Premium

Share your Duo or Family subscription

Taking out a subscription with multiple slots so that you can share it allows you to reduce the bill by sharing the costs.

• For the duo package: the subscription costs €19.99, which works out at around €10 per month per person.
• For the family plan: the subscription costs €29.99, which works out at around €5 per month per person.

It’s worth noting that this price is based on the best-case scenario; if a co-subscriber leaves, the bill goes up and, in our experience, it can quickly become a bit of a hassle to manage account sharing and monthly payments from family and friends 🙂

Using a VPN for YouTube Premium

Using a VPN involves simulating a connection from a country where YouTube Premium is cheaper, such as India, Argentina or Turkey. Once connected via the VPN, simply subscribe via the official YouTube Premium page to benefit from the local price.

As you can see, YouTube Premium prices vary significantly from country to country:

❌ On top of that, you need to factor in the cost of the VPN subscription and know how to use it.

❌ YouTube is cracking down on this practice, and using a VPN to obtain subscriptions at reduced rates may result in the subscription being cancelled.

VPNs are therefore not a method to consider if you want to pay less for YouTube Premium.
